Install with the Linux setup script

Deploy a dedicated backend, configure HTTPS, and verify one bot connection.

The official setup script installs Docker, creates a Compose deployment, and offers HTTPS setup. Use manual Docker if you want to manage those files yourself.

Before you start

  • Prepare a Linux host with SSH access and permission to install services.
  • Keep its public address and chosen HTTPS hostname ready.
  • Allow the network ports required by your chosen proxy or tunnel.
  • Start with one bot and measure the resources needed by your workload.

There is no fixed memory requirement for a particular bot count. World activity, scripts, rendering, plugins, and protocol translation all affect resource use. Use staged tests to size your deployment.

Connect to the host

From your computer, run:

ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_ADDRESS

Use the account and SSH credentials supplied by your host. The following commands run on that remote host.

Download and run the script

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/soulfiremc-com/SoulFire/main/scripts/soulfire-dedicated-setup.sh -o /tmp/sf-setup.sh
sudo bash /tmp/sf-setup.sh

The script offers system updates, Docker installation, HTTPS configuration, and deployment under /opt/soulfire/. Choose the network option appropriate to your host. Record the resulting URL and volume mapping. Use HTTPS for clients outside a trusted local connection.

Generate access and connect

Run sudo bash /tmp/sf-setup.sh again to open its management menu. Select Attach to SoulFire console. Run:

generate-token api

Copy the API token. Open the desktop app and select Dedicated server (remote). Enter the configured backend URL and token. Expect the instance pages to load for that token's user.

Then complete Connect your first bot against a Minecraft target reachable from this host. A successful GUI connection checks backend access. A successful bot join checks the Minecraft route.

Manage the deployment

The script's menu offers console attachment, logs, updates, HTTPS reconfiguration, and uninstall. Use upgrade and rollback before its update action. Use backup and restore to preserve data before replacement or removal.
